Even 79 years later, this memorable tragic date echoes with unceasing pain in the hearts of all whose relatives and friends died under the onslaught of superior forces of the perfidious enemy in the first days of the war.

Small subbotniks were held both in the central part of the district and in rural settlements. In particular, in G.K. also on Sovkhoznaya and Yaroslavskaya streets.

Somewhere they mowed the grass, somewhere they swept away the garbage and collected branches - veterans, middle-aged people, and teenagers took part in the subbotniks. There was a job for everyone.

“We clean up monuments regularly, when necessary. Last time we had a subbotnik on the eve of Victory Day. For us, this is a tribute to the memory that our ancestors bequeathed to us, - social activists say.

Views per city.

Feb. 2022

Unfortunately, the monument itself was closed for restoration.
However, the site offers a gorgeous view of the entire Magadan and its bays.
It immediately becomes clear why the city is so windy)

Very inspiring

July 2021

The place, of course, is not easy and creepy. The monument at the time of the visit (July 2021) was in a state of final restoration. How it will continue is unclear, but the very history of the monument and to whom it is dedicated - of course, make you think.

They said that the monument was poppy, but no. A large-scale sculpture is always a little stylized and like a poster.

The view of the city is excellent, chanterelles are running around, black-brown.

I would like to come from that bay...

Aug. 2020

I visited this memorial for the first time in 2008, in August 2020 - again ... of course, this is the visiting card of Kolyma, the memorial is impressive and very well located ... looks at the city and its two bays, Nagaev and Gertner .. I immediately remember the words from the song of Mikhail Krug, I would fly away from that bay, with seagulls...
many souls flew away there, a lot . ..

A very beautiful monument. Located on a mountain. There is an observation deck from which you can see the whole Magadan. I recommend to visit.

There is a good observation deck with a good view of the city, especially at night. Foxes live nearby, they are not at all afraid of people. Recommended

Mask of Sorrow

Oct. 2019 • Traveling alone

An indescribable impression of visiting the memorial, it was a terrible time. The length of the constructed Kolyma highway is just over 2000 m. One of the first streets of the city starts from the embankment and smoothly passes into the federal road. Lenin Street was built by the forces of the prisoners of those times. The residential buildings along Lenin Street were built by Japanese prisoners in the post-war years.

For an inexperienced person, just an abstraction. But in general, the monument makes a painful impression not by its appearance but by its subtext.

The place is a must-see, despite the great weather and sun, this place is cold and mournful.
