Most of us treat our pets like family members, and they have likely been a source of love and memories and will leave a hole in your heart when they are gone.

I often joke that I like my dogs more than most people anyway…

After putting my dog down, I immediately got a new puppy, which in hindsight was not the best course of action.

I cried from the grief of losing my old dog, and puppy frustrations for the first month we had him.

In the end, though, he is my best friend.

He is eight now and starting to slow down, and it makes me sad, but I resolve to make every day count.
