Parenteral Nutrition Guidelines
A comprehensive evaluation of the patient is essential before starting a parenteral nutrition program. Hematological and biochemical analyzes of the animal's blood are necessary for an adequate selection of nutrient media, their volumes and ratios. nine0003
To perform parenteral nutrition, catheterize the forelimb vein of a cat with a catheter with a diameter of 0.6 - 0.8 mm. The catheter should be repositioned after 48 hours. - Carbs - 6 g - 24.6 kcal
- Fat - 6 g - 55.8 kcal
- Amino acids - 2.1 g
- Carbohydrate energy provided by 40% glucose solution - 15 ml
- Fat energy provided by Lipofundin solution 20% - 30 ml
- Amino acids - aminosteryl solution 10% - 20 ml
- The total volume of nutrient solutions is 65 ml.
To provide the body with the necessary volume of fluid, another 45 ml of Hartman's solution should be administered. nine0191

- Glucose solution 40% 15 ml
- Lipofundin solution 20% 30 ml
