Turns out, you actually don’t have to be hungover 24/7!

As we’ve all learned from the cinematic masterpiece that is Spring Breakers, spring break is historically thought of as a week-long bender spent with old and new friends decked out in the skimpiest of bikinis. Traditionalists will book their flights to Florida and Mexico months in advance, packing way too many girls into one Airbnb and dozens of crop tops into one carry-on suitcase. But I’m just going to cut to the chase here—spring break has looked a little different the past few years. Even when we *think* the pandemic is over, there always seems to be a new variant poppin' in to say what's up, so there’s no telling if international travel (or any travel, TBH) is the safest move. If the thought of packing onto a dancefloor full of fellow college kids kinda skeeves you out right now, don't worry. That doesn’t mean you’ll have to spend the week in bed (even though that sounds pretty WiLd to me). There are plenty of ways to have a hella fun time that don't involve getting drunk on a beach somewhere. After all, if the Spring Breakers can make magic happen in a tough sitch, so. can. you.

From practical pastimes like finally learning to cook or taking up a new skill on Masterclass to scenic road trips and museum hopping, we've got tons of ideas that’ll keep both ragers and resters happily occupied. Plus, if a week-long sleepover with your gang is simply a must-have, there are ways to keep things fun and fresh while never leaving your living room (paint and sip anyone?). Now, go off and do all of the wild memory making. Bon spring break!

dates for autumn, winter, spring and summer

The solemn lines dedicated to the Day of Knowledge barely have time to die down, when schoolchildren begin to count the days until the next vacation. And their parents too. However, pauses in the educational process are also necessary for teachers. We will tell you who regulates the periods of long-awaited rest, and when schoolchildren have holidays in the 2022-2023 academic year.

holiday

In accordance with the law "On Education in the Russian Federation", each school can independently approve its own program, curriculum and work schedule, that is, stop at a five-day school or switch to a six-day school. Educational institutions independently set vacation time. The choice is not so wide, but it is, and we decided to consider different options for the training system with their pros and cons. It depends on this when school holidays will be in 2022-2023. nine0003

School holidays and adopted systems

Gymnasiums, lyceums and schools should plan the learning process so that children have time to master the program, and their health does not suffer from this. That is why breaks are so important in the academic year. The child must reboot and continue to master the theorems and rules rested. Let's see what study schedule is offered at the school in 2022-2023, and why the management prefers one or another option.

Traditional quarters

This form of education is considered the most popular. Conservative quarters are established in most schools. The year is divided into four quarters, according to which a vacation calendar is adopted - both for 2022 and all subsequent ones. Before this, all students, except for first-graders, are given grades - then annual grades are derived from them. This scheme has advantages and disadvantages.

  • Most often, school holidays coincide with public holidays, and this is exactly what is planned for the 2022-2023 academic year. It is convenient for family holidays. nine0032
  • Grades in each quarter serve as a kind of indicator of the child's work, when he can control the results, "pull up" weaknesses and be proud of successes.
  • You will not have to miss classes in the sports section, music or art school, since the quarter system is also most often approved in institutions of additional education. That is, vacations coincide.
  • Irregular periods in the learning process - 8, 7, 11 and 7 weeks. The second quarter flies by, you won't have time to blink an eye. And the third seems endless, and children get sick more than they study. The first-graders were a little more fortunate in this regard. The vacation calendar for the 2022-2023 academic year provides for additional rest for them - from February 6 to February 12. nine0032

However, many general education institutions, which are chosen by quarters, have adjusted to the last significant minus.

Learning rhythm by trimesters

The year is divided into three trimesters, each of which has three months. It seems that it is unbearably long, but the rest does not end as quickly as at quarters. In Russia, students studying under this system have long vacations for 2022-2023. They last for 17-18 days - these are the autumn and spring periods. nine0003

The modular scheme is based on the trimester scheme. In it, three academic months are split in half and the segments no longer look so intimidating. As a result, children get six half-intervals - five training weeks and a week of rest. The system is often referred to as "5+1". So, the autumn holidays for schoolchildren in 2022 are scheduled as follows: from October 10 to 16 and from November 21 to 27. The year turns out to be not so busy, but this order can hardly be called ideal.

The vacation schedule for 2022-2023 is designed so that after each module there are seven days of relaxation. The exception is the New Year holidays, when 9days. However, as in the whole country at this time. We list the pros and cons of the trimester and modular device.

  • Grades in this scenario are given at the end of the trimester, not the module. Therefore, even if the child was sick and missed classes, he will catch up and receive a sufficient number of marks for certification. By the way, it’s easier for a teacher to summarize at the end of the year - there are three marks, not four, as in quarters, when it is difficult to make a choice (two fours and two fives). This is a positive thing. nine0032
  • Sometimes, depending on public holidays, the day of the week on which September 1 falls, and other circumstances, the duration of the module is increased to six or even six and a half weeks. Of course, horse racing is not very popular with children and parents.
  • It is more difficult for parents to organize children's recreation during such breaks. In the 2022-2023 academic year, trimester holidays rarely coincide with official holidays. Although on the days of the holidays, children, of course, do not study. But not all adults have the opportunity to take a vacation every five weeks and keep their child for seven whole days. nine0032
  • It takes a lot of time to build up after the rest, and then the next holidays come up again. The quality of education under such a scheme may suffer.
  • As some parents note, children with the "5 + 1" system get sick much less than with the quarter. But we consider this criterion rather subjective.

Bimester system

Bimesters are less common in Russia, which divide the year into five equal segments - approximately seven weeks each. It’s good if there are a couple of educational institutions in the metropolitan regions that are adherents of the scheme. After each bimester, a rest for two weeks follows. For example, the autumn holidays for schoolchildren in 2022, winter, spring and summer holidays in 2023 are planned in such a way that in some cases they even overlap with public holidays. We will list the exact dates below. nine0003

Curiously, under this system, the school year lasts not nine, but ten months. Bimester supporters argue that during the two summer months of rest, children do not have time to “lose” knowledge as much as it happens with other schemes. With quarters and trimesters, after a three-month break, as a rule, the whole of September is spent repeating last year's material.

  • Among the main advantages is the restoration of the child's body by almost 90% after each two-week rest. And the preservation of the volume of residual knowledge for the shortened summer period. nine0032
  • Of the main disadvantages is the postponement of a long rest. For the bulk of schoolchildren, the academic year 2022-2023 will already be left behind, but for the bimester system, children's holidays in June will not come yet. It can be difficult for teachers to set up children for study when most of their peers frolic from morning to evening on playgrounds. Also, certification is less frequent, and it is more difficult for parents to monitor the progress of their children.

How educational institutions determine school holidays

In accordance with the order of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation No. 115 dated March 22, 2021, the school schedule alternates between school hours and holidays. Rest must last at least seven calendar days. The educational organization itself determines when the autumn holidays begin in 2022, and when the winter and spring holidays begin in 2023. The Ministry of Education annually publishes recommended dates, but the final decision is up to the school council, which can adjust these dates. This is regulated by the following legal acts:

  • Article 34 of the Federal Law of December 29, 2012 N 273-FZ "On Education in the Russian Federation" states that students are granted the academic right to vacations - planned breaks when receiving education for recreation and other social purposes in accordance with the legislation on education and calendar training schedule.
  • Clause 17 of Order No. 1015 of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia dated August 30, 2013 “On Approval of the Procedure for Organization and Implementation of Educational Activities in Basic General Education Programs – Educational Programs of Primary General, Basic General and Secondary General Education”, in the process of mastering general education programs, students are provided with vacations. Their start and end dates are determined by the educational organization independently. nine0032
  • Appendix to the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia dated December 17, 2010 N 1897 informs that all schools approve the calendar academic schedule. It indicates the alternation of educational activities (curricular and extracurricular) and vacations by calendar periods of the academic year: the dates of the beginning and end of the academic year, the duration of the quarters (trimesters), the timing of vacations and intermediate assessments.

Note that federal and regional government agencies, local administrations cannot interfere with the curriculum and schedule of schools. The academic year calendar with holidays, including for 2022-2023, is approved in advance, published on the official website of the educational institution in September and excludes the transfer of holidays to rest periods. nine0003

Holidays in 2022-2023 for those who study in quarters

Holidays during the school year in schools following the quarter system are very clear. Recall that these are approximate intervals recommended by the Ministry of Education. Educational institutions can move the deadlines forward or backward by a few days. Let's tell you how the holidays were distributed here for the fall of 2022, as well as for the spring and winter of 2023.

  • Autumn holidays - from October 29 to November 6, 2022. nine0032
  • Winter holidays - from December 31, 2022 to January 8, 2023.
  • Spring break - from April 8 to April 16, 2023.

Holidays in 2022-2023 for those who study in trimesters

Since we are talking about a modular scheme, the guys will have to rest more often. For example, in 2022 holidays will take place not only in October, but also in November. Such schools also have the right to vary the schedule when children should go on vacation.

  • Autumn holidays - the first from October 10 to 16, 2022, the second from November 21 to 27, 2022.
  • Winter holidays - the first from December 31, 2022 to January 8, 2023, the second from February 20 to 26, 2023.
  • Spring break - from April 3 to April 9, 2023.

Holidays in 2022-2023 for those who study in bimester

Although there are much fewer general educational institutions that have adopted the bimester system than traditional ones, they still exist. Let's see how they plan study periods and vacations in 2022-2023:

  • Autumn holidays - from October 24 to November 6, 2022.
  • Winter holidays - the first from December 26, 2022 to January 8, 2023.
  • Spring-winter holidays - from February 27 to March 12, 2023.
  • Spring Break - May 1-14, 2023.

Is it possible to postpone the number of vacations in the 2022-2023 academic year

It is one thing to shift the dates, and another to reduce the rest period, for example, due to quarantine. The school has no right to take such a step. Whatever the number of vacations in 2022 and any other academic year, they are a planned break. They have nothing to do with quarantine and cannot be replaced by it. nine0003

Parents, in turn, can take responsibility and take the child to rest earlier. Or extend the next vacation, if there are family circumstances. For example, one of them has a vacation or mom and dad together. In 2022-2023, you can go on vacation to Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities. For schoolchildren, there are preferential travel and discounts on excursions. It is advisable at this time to be interested in the educational process with the teacher, do homework if possible, read so that the child does not have to catch up with the program. nine0003

If the child simply gets tired while learning the quarter system, it may make sense to change it to the trimester system. And vice versa. For each parent, it is not the academic performance of children that is paramount, but their physical health and psychological comfort. Alternatively, you can contact the school council to review the vacation schedule and the education system. But for this you need to enlist the support of the majority of parents.

Quarter vacation

Home > Holidays in the 2022-2023 academic year > By quarters

Vacation schedules in schools, universities and institutions of secondary vocational education in Moscow are approved individually for each educational institution by its director, rector or other person responsible for making decisions. In practice, the vacation schedule rarely differs from the recommendations of a higher authority.

Russian schools live according to two educational "calendars": quarters and trimesters. Depending on this, as well as focusing on the recommendations of the Ministry of Education, educational institutions themselves determine the dates of holidays. In general, it is beneficial for the school to adhere to the generally established framework, since general holidays mean more opportunities for organizing high-quality children's leisure: performances, excursions, concerts, etc. nine0003

Those who study in quarters have holidays four times a year - autumn, winter, spring and summer.

Until the next holidays left:

  • Winter holidays from December 26 to January 08, 2023. nine0032
  • Additional holidays from 13 February to 19 February 2023.
  • Spring break from 27 March to 02 April 2023.
  • Summer holidays from 26 May to 31 August 2023.

Autumn holidays 2022-2023 academic year

Of these, the dates of autumn holidays are less stable at the end of October and beginning of November: their end date depends on National Unity Day, which is celebrated on November 4.

New Year holidays 2022-2023 academic year

New Year holidays usually start from the last week of December and end on the 10th of January. Students go to school on Monday. Winter holidays in the 2022/2023 academic year will last from December 26 to January 8. First-graders will also have additional vacations in winter * - from 13 to 19 February .

Spring break 2022-2023 academic year

The situation with spring holidays is much simpler - dates do not depend on holidays. Spring break usually falls between the last week of March and the first week of April, but next year it was decided to shorten the spring break from two weeks to one.
