IN THIS MOMENT Singer Says New Single 'Sick Like Me' Is About Embracing Her Twisted Side

October 13, 2014

IN THIS MOMENT's new single, "Sick Like Me", is making its way up the rock radio chart as the band prepares for the release of its fifth studio album, titled "Black Widow", on November 17. Singer Maria Brink gave The Pulse Of Radio a little insight into what the song is about. "That's kind of about embracing more of these things in me that I used to kind of keep 'em inside and they're a little bit twisted and they're a little bit wrong, I guess," she said. "And also, when you find another person who really, I guess, knows who you are and they find all of these things that maybe I would consider flaws in myself — they find that beautiful and like, I guess, things that make me who I am. "

"Black Widow" was once again helmed by Kevin Churko (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, HELLYEAH, PAPA ROACH) at his The Hideout Recording Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"Black Widow" is available for pre-order on the iTunes Store and other digital retailers. The album is being offered to fans in an array of distinctive configurations, including a very special vinyl piece exclusively available at Atlantic's webstore. All pre-orders will receive four instant grat downloads prior to the album release.

IN THIS MOMENT last year inked a new deal with Atlantic Records, a division of Warner Music Group, following the completion of its contract with Century Media Records.

"'Black Widow' is definitely the darker part of me," said Brink. "This album is about finding the weakness inside and turning it into strength. It's about being reborn, setting yourself free and realizing the balance in everything — the dark and the light.

"We are very excited to be releasing this album through Atlantic Records," she added, "who have put out some of the greatest and most revered albums of all time. I am so ready and excited for the launch of this album. I think people will embrace its diversity and hearing different sides of us that they haven't experienced yet."

"Here we go again," said guitarist Chris Howorth. "This was by far the most challenging, exciting and rewarding experience we've ever had making a record. We threw out the rulebook and tried to create something fearless, constantly pushing ourselves to make an album unlike anyone has heard before. Fans, get ready for this ride — everything is going to the next level."

"Black Widow" is expected to feature several special guests, including FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH singer Ivan Moody. Brink previously appeared on the FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH track "Anywhere But Here", which was included on "The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell Volume 1" album.

IN THIS MOMENT released all four of its previous studio efforts through Century Media, including "Blood".

"Blood" was IN THIS MOMENT's highest-charting album, reaching No. 15 on the Billboard album chart, while the title track became the band's first-ever Top 10 hit at rock radio.

Marina Tsvetaeva

I like that you are not sick of me ...

I like that you are not sick me,
I like that I'm not sick of you,
That the heavy globe of the earth
will never float away under our feet.
I like that you can be funny -
Loose - and not play with words,
And not blush with a suffocating wave,
Lightly touching with sleeves.

I also like that you are with me
Calmly hug another,
Do not read to me in hellfire
Burn for not kissing you.
That my tender name, my tender one, is not
You mention day and night - in vain ...
That never in church silence
They will not sing over us: hallelujah!

Thank you with my heart and hand
For the fact that you don't know me yourself! -
Love so much: for my peace of the night,
For the rarity of meetings at sunset,
For our non-festivities under the moon,
For the sun not above our heads,
For the fact that you are sick - alas! - not by me,
Because I'm sick - alas! - not by you. Poems by Marina Ivanovna Tsvetaeva - About love0003

So

Why are you crying? - So. —

Crying is so funny and stupid.

For children

They and we

Heroes of Spanish legends

Died, loving,

About love

So there will be

Like a quiet child,

,

with endless languor gaze,

On life on life on life.

Here it is

Here it is: one can hear it, but I don’t hear the words,

Here it is: it’s approaching, and suddenly it’s dark…

Silver Age

My poems written so early…

My poems written so early

That I didn’t know that I am a poet I looked into your eyes,

And now everything looks sideways!

“I like that you are not sick with me...”

“I like” that you are not sick with me , one of Tsvetaeva's most famous poems, became famous thanks to the Soviet film "The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath!". The melodious lines of Marina Ivanovna were set to music by Mikhail Tariverdiev, put into the mouth of the main character and sung by Alla Borisovna Pugacheva.

Marina Tsvetaeva's love lyrics are rightfully considered one of the priceless discoveries of Russian literature of the Silver Age. Contradictory, suffering, lonely and at the same time incredibly strong, honest, subtle, ironic, conveying the fullness of feelings, it allows you to look at the author from a different angle and find answers to questions that concern not only literary critics, but also admirers of Tsvetaeva's work.

The poem "I like..." was a literary charade for many years. The biographers of Marina Tsvetaeva tried to understand to whom the poetess dedicated such heartfelt and not devoid of sadness lines.

I like that you are not sick with me…

I like that you are not sick with me,
I like that I am sick not with you,
That the heavy globe of the earth
will never float under our feet.
I like that you can be funny -
Loose - and not play with words,
And not blush with a suffocating wave,
Lightly touching sleeves.

I also like that you are with me
Calmly hug another,
Do not read to me in hellfire
Burn because I don't kiss you.
That my tender name, my gentle, is not
You mention day or night - in vain ...
That never in church silence
They will not sing over us: hallelujah!

Thank you with my heart and hand
For the fact that you don't know me yourself! -
So love: for my peace of the night,
For the rarity of meetings at sunset,
For our non-festivities under the moon,
For the sun, not over our heads, -
For the fact that you are sick - alas! - not by me,
Because I'm sick - alas! - not by you!

- Marina Tsvetaeva, May 3, 1915

Only in 1980 did the sister of the poetess, Anastasia Tsvetaeva, give an answer to this question, she said that this bright and somewhat even philosophical poem was dedicated to her second husband, Mauritius Mints. By 1915, both sisters had already been married, each had a child, but their marriages were unsuccessful.

Anastasia recalls that Mavriky Mintz appeared on the threshold of her house with a letter from mutual friends and spent almost the whole day with her. Young people found many topics for conversation, their views on literature, painting, music and life in general coincided in an amazing way. Therefore, soon Mavriky Mintz, captivated by the beauty of Anastasia, proposed to her. But the happy groom was waiting for another acquaintance. This time - with Marina Tsvetaeva, who at the age of 22 made an indelible impression on him not only as a talented poetess, but also as a very attractive woman.

Mauritius showed attention to Marina, expressing his admiration and admiration for the poetess. Catching his gaze on herself, Marina Tsvetaeva blushed like a young schoolgirl, and could not do anything about it. However, mutual sympathy never grew into love, since Mauritius was already engaged to Anastasia.

The poem “I like…” became a kind of poetic response to the rumors and gossip of acquaintances, who even made a bet on who was in love with whom in the Tsvetaev family.
