Friendship reason season lifetime poem
#80: A Friend for a reason, a season or a lifetime
“People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you figure out which one it is, you will know what to do for each person.”
Have you ever heard this phrase – A friend for a reason, a season or a lifetime? I’ve known this phrase for years and today I found out it’s from a poem (1).
One of my mastermind buddies recently said “I want to grow” and “I want love and connection”. She explained that she wanted to grow and develop herself and her business but she was afraid of losing her old friends. She wanted to stay loved and connected with them. Part of her wanted to move forward, another part was holding her back. She found herself rather torn so she was staying in the same place.
If she decides that she wants to grow, some of her friends will grow with her, support her and some won’t. And that’s part of life.
So when friendships drift apart or end, we can look at them in a different light. Rather than feel sorry, regret or try to hold on too much, we can look at what we brought each other. We can acknowledge the wonderful times, the reasons why we were good together for a period and why it’s now ok to move on.
Which friendships do you have for a reason, a season or a lifetime?
Footnotes
1) Reason, Season, Lifetime Poem
People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you figure out which one it is,
you will know what to do for each person.
When someone is in your life for a REASON,
it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty;
to provide you with guidance and support;
to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.
Some people come into your life for a SEASON,
because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it. It is real. But only for a season.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons;
things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person,
and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Reason, Season, and Lifetime Friends
Approximately 11 years ago, this poem landed on my desk. At the time, I had been going through some serious issues with the loss of a friend to cancer and those who left my life shortly after. History has a way of repeating itself.
The poem is as follows:

Right now, these words are running through my veins as I try to handle some season and reason friends.
Over the summer I let a friendship go. It was toxic and it was for the best. Honestly, I didn’t feel a sense of loss so there was no period of mourning.
I’ve found that sometimes you have to repeat the process when there is no longer joy. I refuse to be sad about the process of letting go. Everything happens for a reason and this is no different.
Sometimes you cannot be sorry for things you did not do. I have spent too many years in the past trying to be sorry for things I did not do with the hopes that everything would be okay. I am however, the first to apologize when I am at fault. Whether the person chooses to accept it or not is totally up to them. I will not force the issue nor will I chase after them.
Sometimes it is not always so black and white. I wish it were. I wish there was no grey area for us to have to push through the muck. But, there is. I have to allow myself to mourn this time around.
I have no regrets about anything in my 2016 journey. It had more highs than lows. There were great adventures. Smiles, laughter and very few tears.
I’m thankful for the part each of these people had in my journey this year. And while these chapters in life are done, I have already started writing new ones.
I’m going to be just fine.
190 years ago the most famous poem about friendship was born
I.I. Pushchin
My first friend, my priceless friend!
And I blessed fate,
When my yard is secluded,
Covered with sad snow,
Your bell announced.
I pray to holy Providence:
Yes, my voice to your soul
Gives the same consolation,
May it illuminate the confinement
With the beam of clear Lyceum days!
Alexander Pushkin
January 12, 1825 - December 13, 1826
Friends met in Mikhailovskoye at eight o'clock in the morning on January 11 (23rd according to the new style), 1825, and spent the evening talking all day and part of the night.
Pushchin's arrival was a huge event for the disgraced poet. After all, even relatives did not dare to visit the exile, they dissuaded Pushchin from the trip.
The unexpected joy of the meeting illuminated not only that short January day, but also many things that awaited friends ahead. When, thirty years later, Ivan Ivanovich Pushchin takes up his pen to describe his meeting with Pushkin in Mikhailovsky, every letter in his manuscript will shine with happiness. "Notes on Pushkin" is one of the brightest works created in the memoir genre in Russian.
Shortly before parting, the friends remembered how they talked through a thin wooden partition in the Lyceum. Jeannot Pushchin had the thirteenth room, Pushkin had the fourteenth. It's right in the middle of a long corridor. From a boyish point of view, the location is advantageous - while the tutor comes from one end or the other, the neighbors will warn you of the danger. And Pushkin and Pushchin had a common window, a partition divided it strictly in half.
Reviews of lyceum students by warden Martyn Pilecki have been preserved, here is what he wrote about the 13-year-old Pushchin: "... Nobility, good nature with courage and subtle ambition, especially prudence - the essence of his excellent qualities." Who could have known then how useful this courage and this prudence would be to Ivan... but he took away the beginning of the poem "Gypsies", letters ... Jeannot left after midnight, at three o'clock on January 12th.
"... The coachman had already harnessed the horses, the bell rang at the porch, the clock struck three. We still clinked glasses, but we drank sadly: as if it felt like we were drinking together for the last time, and drinking for eternal separation! coat and ran into the sleigh. Pushkin was still saying something after me; not hearing anything, I looked at him: he stopped on the porch with a candle in his hand. The horses rushed downhill. I heard: "Farewell, friend!" me..."
When Pushkin undertakes to complete his message to Pushchin, he will have been imprisoned for almost a year - first in the Peter and Paul Fortress, and then in the Shlisselburg Fortress. After the verdict, Ivan Pushchin and Wilhelm Küchelbecker were deleted from the "Memorial book of the Lyceum", as if they did not exist at all.
In October 1827, Pushchin, shackled in hand and foot shackles, will be sent to the Chita prison. The journey took three months. "On the very day of my arrival in Chita, Alexandra Grigorievna Muravyova calls me to the stockade and gives me a piece of paper on which was written in an unknown hand: "My first friend, my priceless friend! .."
This was at the beginning of 1828. But the original Pushchin saw poems only in 1842.
Literally
Ivan Pushchin, from Notes on Pushkin
We finally turned off the road to the side... The horses were carried among the snowdrifts...
Suddenly, a sharp turn, and as if unexpectedly burst into the feigned gate, with the thunder of the bell. There was no strength to stop the horses at the porch, they dragged them past and sat down in the snow of the uncleared yard . .. I look around: I see Pushkin on the porch, barefoot, in one shirt, with his hands up. There is no need to say what happened in me then. I jump out of the sleigh, take him in an armful and drag him into the room. It is terribly cold outside, but at certain moments a person does not catch a cold. We look at each other, we kiss, we are silent. He forgot to cover up his nakedness, I did not think about the frosty fur coat and hat. It was about eight o'clock in the morning. I don't know what was done. The old woman who came running found us in each other's arms in the same form as we got into the house: one was almost naked, the other was completely covered with snow ... I immediately guessed that this was his kind nurse, who had been sung by him so many times - almost strangled her in his arms.
From the Siberian letters of Ivan Pushchin
To father, sisters and brothers
October 17-31, 1827 and I try to be happy with everything.

December 13, 1827
. .. Forgive me, dear ones, for all the bitter grief that I have brought upon you. Do not condemn only before meeting with me, if not here - then there. Yes, I will be with you there... Our connection, our love, our friendship, neither the verdicts of secular courts, nor 7,000 miles - nothing will terminate.. .

I thank God that he does not deprive me of the ability to rejoice and in this joy put up with many bitter things ... If I could see each other again ... then you would find on me familiar smile...
From a letter to S. Komovsky
June 9, 1854
I owe everything to happy meetings and circumstances... This favor from above - I fully know and feel it, and still don’t know how to pray otherwise, how to give thanks.

For me, a man infected with jealousy is contemptuous: this is simply an anomaly. Finally, I will say more: if a woman cheated on me, I would always say that I am to blame, not she. It can be seen that there was a lack of attention and tenderness on my part; she did not find what she was looking for ... I place a woman so highly before me that I will never allow myself to think that she could be to blame. This graceful creature is doomed to sacrifice by everyone, and in this case I want to be an exception. I adore her and will continue to adore her. These are not words, but a deep conviction...

Do you know, dear friend, that once upon a time for fixing friendship there were a variety of rituals? Cossacks as a sign of brotherhood exchanged crosses. Arabs - from common dishes ate a pinch salt. And the ancient Scythians sealed their friendship with blood.
Fortunately, today, in order to prove the sincerity of friendship, on such sacrifices are not necessary. I propose to remind a friend of Your love and devotion in a poem about friendship.
Choose one of the following poetry and send a postcard to your friend, but not electronic, but paper, such as they loved to write in your childhood parents. Can you imagine how nice it will be for your best friend to receive from you a real letter with poetic lines to his honor?! In the era of SMS and Internet messages such a surprise - a complete surprise.
About friendship
The breeze is friends with the sun,
A dew - with grass.
Friends with a butterfly flower,
We are friends with you.
All with friends in half
We are happy to share!
Only to quarrel with friends
Never!
(Yuri Entin )
Girlfriends
We quarreled with my girlfriend
And sat in the corners.
It's very boring without a friend!
We need to reconcile.
I did not offend her -
I only held the bear,
I just ran away with the bear
And said: “I won’t give it back!”.
I'll go and make up,
I'll give her a bear, I'm sorry,
I'll give her a ball, I'll give her a tram
And I'll say: "Let's play!"
(A gniya Kuznetsova )
Twins
We are friends - two Yashki,
They called us "twins".
"How different!" –
Passers-by are talking.
And I must explain,
That we are not brothers at all,
We are friends - two Jacobs,
We have the same name.
(Agnia Barto )
Tipper
Walked once in the yard i,
And suddenly I saw dump truck!
Such beautiful, red-yellow,
Earring, friend, held him!
Car for him gave
Mom for the holiday. That's the trouble -
After all, I'm talking about it dump truck
Dreamed all life, always dreamed!
I immediately very angry,
my enemy The earring has become!
After all, not to him, but i needed
that one red and yellow dump truck!
And so Seryozhka not arrogant,
wanted to say him then,
Whatever I droplets, not at all
This car is not needed!
But here is mine a friend saw me,
he came to me quickly ran up,
So cheerful and happy,
Said that was waiting for me.
And for a long time we then they played...
And suddenly it didn't matter to me,
What a dump truck he was presented with
Seryozhka, friend, not me.

Friendship is warm wind,
Friendship is bright world,
Friendship - sun at dawn
For the soul fun feast.
Friendship is only happiness,
Friendship - at people alone.
Not with friendship bad weather is terrible,
With friendship - life full in spring.
A friend will share pain and joy,
A friend will support and save.
Even with a friend evil weakness
Instantly melt and will leave.
Believe, keep, value friendship,
This is the highest ideal.
She is to you will serve.
After all, friendship is this is a valuable gift!

Fox, hare and hedgehog
Somehow hare cowardly,
Bunny - gray panties,
Met in forest fox,
Very cunning little sister.
Fox Bunny I saw,
Like an aspen trembled.
A fox cunning
and bunny says:
"What are you, hare, are you trembling?
What are you, gray, are you silent?
Not greet me,
After all, with you we are friends!
Give you me hug,
I'm your paw I'll shake."
Just cracked suddenly a bitch.
Hears a fox voice:
"You won't shake! And don't try!
And from here get out!
Friend to eat I won't give you!
Paws off! BUT I'll give in!"
Bunny sees: from under the Christmas tree
A hedgehog runs out of mink,
threatens.
Well, how is she will run!
And only heels sparkled,
Only fox and seen.

Maybe you neighbor

Broke your stool
And broke two books?
Maybe he I'm not happy myself,
What's wrong happened? -
So many pranks in a row
It happened.
You will cry scream,
knock feet,
And, of course, you will run
Complain mom ...
And let him sorry,
no one let's say
Not even let's be sad,
We don't look show.
for you neighborhood to live,
Means, need to be friends.

He a year in my friends went
He was a year in my friends went,
I smiled and censer,
As long as I was needed!
Then he me bypassed . ..
And suddenly success forgot him.
And here he is again came to me,
And Taiga and I quietly into the woods.
At my friend's Taigi
Four thin legs.
Big ears, wet nose
And the heart true to tears.
(Leo Oshanin)
Zhili studied side by side and together
Lived side by side and studied together,
And it was ours friendship is true.
But barely we parted,
Like now broke up
Will not help any trick,
If to there is nothing in the past.
Even see each other became awkward,
As if we deceived someone.
However, after all, we are beyond our strength,
Having said hello, pass by.
Weary dull conversation,
We are standing, meeting along the way.
Maybe we hardened? Hardly.
Maybe us stuffed up?
No! We they didn’t call it friendship,
Apparently, this is not friendship was.
did not happen no quarrel, no strife,
None straight line changes.
