Down for you always

Drake’s ‘In My Feelings’ Lyrics

Here are the lyrics to Drake's "In My Feelings."

“Kiki, do you love me?”

Drake asks his first girlfriend, Keshia Chanté, if she loves him in the first line of his song “In My Feelings,” which debuts at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 (dated July 10). The love letter to his ex acts as a modern, romantic rumination featuring the Quality Control-produced City Girls.

“In My Feelings” marries multiple geographic locations in its production: The New Orleans bounce was groomed by BlaqNmilD, who assisted 40 and TrapMoneyBenny on the track, and the Atlanta outro features a snippet from the “Champagne Papi” episode. From Donald Glover‘s FX series, Zazie Beetz’s character Vanessa complains about needing to swing a selfie with Drake. “I don’t even care, I need a photo with Drake Because my Instagram is weak as fuck,” she said in the show.

Trap, TrapMoneyBenny
This shit got me in my feelings
Gotta be real with it, yup

Kiki, do you love me? Are you riding?
Say you’ll never ever leave from beside me
‘Cause I want ya, and I need ya
And I’m down for you always
Kb, do you love me? Are you riding?
Say you’ll never ever leave from beside me
‘Cause I want ya, and I need ya
And I’m down for you always

Look, the new me is really still the real me
I swear you gotta feel me before they try and kill me
They gotta make some choices, they runnin’ out of options
‘Cause I’ve been goin’ off and they don’t know when it’s stoppin’
And when you get to toppin’, I see that you’ve been learnin’
And when I take you shoppin’ you spend it like you earned it
And when you popped off on your ex he deserved it
I thought you were the one from the jump, that confirmed it
Trapmoneybenny
I buy you champagne but you love some Henny
From the block like you Jenny
I know you special, girl, ’cause I know too many

‘Resha, do you love me? Are you riding?
Say you’ll never ever leave from beside me
‘Cause I want ya, and I need ya
And I’m down for you always
J. t., do you love me? Are you riding?
Say you’ll never ever leave from beside me
‘Cause I want ya, and I need ya
And I’m down for you always

Two bad bitches and we kissin’ in the Wraith
Kissin’-kissin’ in the Wraith, kiss-kissin’ in the Wraith
I need that black card and the code to the safe
Code to the safe, code-code to the safe-safe
I show him how the neck work
Fuck that Netflix and chill, what’s your net-net-net worth?

‘Cause I want ya, and I need ya
And I’m down for you always
(Yeah, yeah)
And I’m down for you always
D-down for you always
D-d-down for you always
(I got a new boy, and that nigga trade)

Kiki, do you love me? Are you riding?
Say you’ll never ever leave from beside me
‘Cause I want you, and I need you
And I’m down for you always
Kb, do you love me? Are you riding?
Say you’ll never ever leave
From beside me, ’cause I want ya, and I

Bring that ass, bring that ass, bring that ass back
B-bring that ass, bring that ass, bring that ass back
Shawty say the nigga that she with can’t hit
But shawty, I’ma hit it, hit it like I can’t miss
(Clap that ass, you’re the only one I love)

(Let’s go, let’s go)
Bring that ass back

Trap, TrapMoneyBenny
This shit got me in my feelings
I just gotta be real with it, yup

(BlaqNmilD, you a genius, you diggin’ me?)

“What are y’all talkin’ about?”
“I don’t even care, I need a photo with Drake
Because my Instagram is weak as fuck”
“What are you talkin’ about?”

Decoding All of Drake’s References on ‘In My Feelings’

Drake unleashed his highly anticipated Scorpion double album to close out last month (June 29), notching the 6 God his eighth No. 1 project on the Billboard 200. Drizzy also compiled a record-breaking seven tracks within the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated July 14. One of the B-side’s standout cuts that debuted at No. 6 was the anthemic “In My Feelings.”

The TrapMoneyBenny-produced tune has taken off thanks to the latest dance challenge. Instagram comedian Shiggy dubbed the #DoTheShiggy on June 30, which sparked the now-viral “In My Feelings” Challenge. The social media sensation has seen a number of celebrities follow suit, including Will Smith, Odell Beckham Jr., James Harden, Ciara, Kevin Hart, and even Drake himself. The challenge has spawned more than 2.3 million tweets as of Thursday (July 12).

The infectious tune is much more than a viral dance record, though, as the OVO rapper penned a quasi-love letter directed at former lovers and women he’s been fascinated with in his life. The potential summer banger is peppered with New Orleans bounce flavor and Drake makes sure to pay homage to a couple of 504 legends by sampling Lil Wayne and the late Magnolia Shorty.

Billboard attempts to decipher all of Drake’s references throughout “In My Feelings” below.

TrapMoneyBenny

“Trap, TrapMoneyBenny/ This shit got me in my feelings/ Gotta be real with it, yup.”

“In My Feelings” marks Drake’s first collaboration with producer TrapMoneyBenny. The Ohio native has worked with the likes of Chief Keef, 21 Savage, Lil Yachty, and more in the past. Drizzy gives the beat maestro a quick shout-out to kick things off. OVO 40 and New Orleans’ BlaqNmilD also notch co-production credits on the track but Benny told The Fader he “did the meat and potatoes of the beat.”

K’yanna Barber

“Kiki, do you love me? Are you riding?/ Say you’ll never ever leave from beside me/ Cause I want ya, and I need ya/ And I’m down for you always/ KB, do you love me? Are you riding?/ Say you’ll never ever leave from beside me.

Many believed Kiki to be former 106 & Park host Keshia Chante, who grew up as a childhood friend of Drake’s and was one of his first crushes. The two previously dated and he’s even admitted to writing songs about her in the past. Thanks to some great reporting from the good folks at Genius, they uncovered the Kiki referenced here was actually a woman by the name of K’yanna Barber.

The Oakland-based social media personality has been romantically tied to Drizzy since 2016. She reportedly attended one of his concerts on the Summer Sixteen Tour. Barber was linked to Drake once again in 2017 as a gossip outlet spotted the pair together in various locations. The connection to K’yanna makes sense as he follows up using just her initials of “KB” later in the verse. Barber even subtlety tweeted out the lyrics mentioning her on Sunday (July 8).

KB DO U LUV ME?

Jennifer Lopez

“I buy you Champagne but you love some Henny/ From the block like you Jenny/ I know you special, girl, ’cause I know too many.

Here, Drake rhymes about how special his partner is at the moment. He references a 2002 Jennifer Lopez hit with “Jenny From the Block.” Drizzy was linked to the Bronx-bred star in late 2016, prior to her starting a relationship with former MLB player Alex Rodriguez. Drake posted a couple photos snuggling up with J-Lo and rumors began to take form that the two were romantically involved. Lopez even confirmed the pair was working on new music together in early 2017.

The OVO rapper sampled Lopez on More Life‘s “Teenage Fever.” He later put J-Lo into his raps on the Scary Hours EP cut “Diplomatic Immunity.” “2010 was when I lost my halo/ 2017 I lost a J-Lo,” Drake somberly rhymed.

City Girls

‘”Resha, do you love me? Are you riding?/ Say you’ll never ever leave from beside me/ ‘Cause I want ya, and I need ya/ And I’m down for you always/ J.T., do you love me? Are you riding?/ Say you’ll never ever leave from beside me/ Cause I want ya, and I need ya/ And I’m down for you always.

Drake takes his loving in another direction for the second verse, replacing Kiki with both members of the burgeoning rap duo City Girls. Drizzy begins with a shout-out to ‘Resha, which is a shorter version of her government name Caresha. She is known as Young Miami in the hip-hop world.

Next, J.T. receives the elusive Drizzy co-sign. The Quality Control artist makes up the other half of City Girls. Jatavia Johnson recently turned herself in to authorities to finish a sentence for fraudulent credit card charges. She was previously out on bond and revealed on her Instagram Story (June 30) that she would indeed be heading back to prison.

Rap-Up caught up with City Girls to get their jubilant reaction to receiving the Drake stamp of approval. “Growing up, I always been a Drake fan,” said JT. “How did Drake know us? We just some random hood City Girls. How he heard our music? For him to just follow us, not even knowing he knew our music, it’s like people is really paying attention to us.

Following Scorpion‘s release, Drizzy posted a number of artists to his Instagram story that inspired him while recording the double album. City Girls made the 6 God’s list.

Magnolia Shorty

“Yea, yea, yea, yea he bad/ And I’m down for you always/ Yea, yea, yea, guess who’s back/ And I’m down for you always/ D-down for you al–/ Black biggy biggy black biggy black blake/ D-d-down for you always/ I got a new boy, and that n—a trade!”

Drake injects some New Orleans bounce into the track with a sample from the late Magnolia Shorty, who was killed back in 2010. The looped sample is from the 504 native’s “Smokin Gun” remix to Jadakiss’ original track. Shorty’s unique bounce shares the segue with City Girls and Drizzy.

Lil Wayne

“Bring that ass, bring that ass, bring that ass back/ B-bring that ass, bring that ass, bring that ass back/ Shawty say the n—a that she with can’t hit/ But shawty, I’ma hit it, hit it like I can’t miss.

Drake samples his mentor on the breakdown of “In My Feelings.” He implements sultry uptempo bars from Lil Wayne‘s biggest hit to date with the Grammy-winning “Lollipop” off 2008’s Tha Carter III. The commercially successful single went on to power its way atop the Billboard Hot 100 on May 3, 2008, and spent five weeks at No. 1. Static Major also appears on the track but tragically passed away 16 days prior to its release (Feb. 25).

Zazie Beetz

“I don’t even care, I need a photo with Drake/ Because my Instagram is weak as fuck/ I’m just being real, my shit look.”

“In My Feelings” closes out with a scene from Donald Glover‘s Atlanta series. Van, played by the beautiful Zazie Beetz, professes her desire for a selfie with Drake at his New Year’s Eve party to stunt on her friends for the ‘Gram. The episode is actually titled “Champagne Papi.” Van and her friends are tricked into attending an NYE banger at Drizzy’s mansion but he’s actually not even there. The crew never ended up finding the 6 God.

5 habits that are dragging you down

January 16, 2021 Motivation

These actions seem normal, but in fact they prevent you from enjoying life to the fullest.

You can not only read this article, but also listen to it. If it's more convenient for you, turn on the podcast.

1. Not keeping promises

Many of us keep our word to others, but somehow forget about ourselves. We promise ourselves to start running, eat right, take care of our health, change jobs, and much more. At this moment, we have already emotionally reached our goal, which is why we abandon it at the very beginning. We gradually get used to it and lose control over our own mind. nine0003

To break this habit, reward yourself for every goal you achieve, for every promise you keep.

2. Set the alarm

By turning off the alarm and allowing yourself to sleep for another 10 minutes, you lose the first battle of the day. Thus, you set yourself up for a series of possible failures.

Surely you have noticed that sleeping until dinner time does not energize you, but, on the contrary, deprives you of it. Morning is a very productive time of the day. Try to make good use of it. nine0003

3. Use your smartphone before going to bed

This habit is detrimental to your health. The blue glow emanating from the smartphone screen interferes with the production of melatonin, the sleep hormone. This can lead to insomnia, vision problems, and obesity.

Put your smartphone away 1-2 hours before bed. It is better to read a book: such a pastime will be useful both for health and for your development.

Thinking is the most difficult work; that's probably why so few do it. nine0003

4.

Blaming ourselves for the past

We all regret the past sometimes. But the way we think and analyze our own actions affects our future.

When you say "I should have done this..." you blame yourself for something that didn't go according to plan. When you say "I could have done this..." you blame yourself for missed opportunities. When you say “I should have done this…”, you blame yourself for the lack of knowledge and experience that could have corrected the situation. nine0003

Such thoughts paint a picture of a bright but unrealistic future. Instead, focus on what is good in your present life. Think about what you are grateful for right now. Instead of “What if…” say to yourself: “Next time I will definitely…”

5. Agree with everything

We are always afraid to miss something, not to be in time for something. Therefore, we often say yes to any opportunity that presents itself, even if we are not entirely sure of the correctness of our decision. nine0003

Of course, being able to get off the ground and go on an adventure is a good trait. You just need to prioritize and remember what's important to you and not to anyone else.

Life is long if it is used skillfully.
