Healing power of tears
Is crying good for you?
It’s safe to say that 2020 gave us more than enough to cry about. Yet even prior to last year, it seems that we were crying fairly often. Researchers note that, on average, American women cry 3.5 times each month, while American men cry about 1.9 times each month. These figures may take some of us by surprise, especially as our society has often looked at crying — particularly by men — as a sign of weakness and lack of emotional stamina.
Health benefits of crying
As a phenomenon that is unique to humans, crying is a natural response to a range of emotions, from deep sadness and grief to extreme happiness and joy. But is crying good for your health? The answer appears to be yes. Medical benefits of crying have been known as far back as the Classical era. Thinkers and physicians of ancient Greece and Rome posited that tears work like a purgative, draining off and purifying us. Today’s psychological thought largely concurs, emphasizing the role of crying as a mechanism that allows us to release stress and emotional pain.
Crying is an important safety valve, largely because keeping difficult feelings inside — what psychologists call repressive coping — can be bad for our health. Studies have linked repressive coping with a less resilient immune system, cardiovascular disease, and hypertension, as well as with mental health conditions, including stress, anxiety, and depression. Crying has also been shown to increase attachment behavior, encouraging closeness, empathy, and support from friends and family.
Not all tears are created equal
Scientists divide the liquid product of crying into three distinct categories: reflex tears, continuous tears, and emotional tears. The first two categories perform the important function of removing debris such as smoke and dust from our eyes, and lubricating our eyes to help protect them from infection. Their content is 98% water.
It’s the third category, emotional tears (which flush stress hormones and other toxins out of our system), that potentially offers the most health benefits. Researchers have established that crying releases oxytocin and endogenous opioids, also known as endorphins. These feel-good chemicals help ease both physical and emotional pain. Popular culture, for its part, has always known the value of a good cry as a way to feel better — and maybe even to experience physical pleasure. The millions of people who watched classic tearjerker films such as West Side Story or Titanic (among others) will likely attest to that fact.
Rethinking crying in boys and men
“I know a man ain’t supposed to cry,” goes the lyric of a popular song, “but these tears I can’t hold inside.” These words succinctly summarize many a man’s dilemma about emotional expression. From early on, boys are told that real men do not cry. When these boys grow up, they may stuff their feelings deep inside and withdraw emotionally from their loved ones, or self-medicate with alcohol or drugs, or even become suicidal. Many men therefore need to learn the skills of how to reconnect with their emotions. Back in the 1990s, the poet Robert Bly led men’s seminars at which he taught the participants how to get in touch with their long-buried feelings of sadness and loss, and to weep openly if they needed to. Ideally, however, such education should begin early on, at home or at school, with adults making it safe for boys to talk about difficult feelings.
Crying during COVID
As of this writing, the nation has registered over 500,000 deaths from COVID-19. The collective grief over these losses can only be described as staggering. It is no surprise, then, that at times like these our feelings are closer to the surface, and that many people who were not previously prone to crying find themselves tearing up more easily. In fact, as one medical professional put it, showing emotion in public may have become a new normal.
When are tears a problem?
There are times when crying can be a sign of a problem, especially if it happens very frequently and/or for no apparent reason, or when crying starts to affect daily activities or becomes uncontrollable. Conversely, people suffering from certain kinds of clinical depression may actually not be able to cry, even when they feel like it. In any of these situations, it would be best to see a medical professional who can help diagnose the problem and suggest appropriate treatment.
Takeaways
As challenging as it may be, the best way to handle difficult feelings, including sadness and grief, is to embrace them. It is important to allow yourself to cry if you feel like it. Make sure to take the time and find a safe space to cry if you need to. Many people associate crying during grief with depression, when it can actually be a sign of healing. Teaching boys and young men that it’s okay to cry may reduce negative health behaviors and help them have fuller lives.
If crying becomes overwhelming or uncontrollable, see a doctor or mental health professional for evaluation and treatment.
The Healing Power of Tears

Take the test >
For over twenty years as physician, I’ve witnessed, time and again, the healing power of tears. Tears are your body’s release valve for stress, sadness, grief, anxiety, and frustration. Also, you can have tears of joy, say when a child is born or tears of relief when a difficulty has passed. In my own life, I am grateful when I can cry. It feels cleansing, a way to purge pent up emotions so they don’t lodge in my body as stress symptoms such as fatigue or pain. To stay healthy and release stress, I encourage my patients to cry. For both men and women, tears are a sign of courage, strength, and authenticity.
In my books “The Empath’s Survival Guide” and “Emotional Freedom,” I discuss the numerous health benefits of tears. Like the ocean, tears are salt water. Protectively they lubricate your eyes, remove irritants, reduce stress hormones, and they contain antibodies that fight pathogenic microbes. Our bodies produce three kinds of tears: reflex, continuous, and emotional. Each kind has different healing roles. For instance, reflex tears allow your eyes to clear out noxious particles when they’re irritated by smoke or exhaust. The second kind, continuous tears, are produced regularly to keep our eyes lubricated–these contain a chemical called “lysozyme” which functions as an anti-bacterial and protects our eyes from infection. Tears also travel to the nose through the tear duct to keep the nose moist and bacteria free. Typically, after crying, our breathing, and heart rate decrease, and we enter into a calmer biological and emotional state.
Emotional tears have special health benefits. Biochemist and “tear expert” Dr. William Frey at the Ramsey Medical Center in Minneapolis discovered that reflex tears are 98% water, whereas emotional tears also contain stress hormones which get excreted from the body through crying. After studying the composition of tears, Dr. Frey found that emotional tears shed these hormones and other toxins which accumulate during stress. Additional studies also suggest that crying stimulates the production of endorphins, our body’s natural pain killer and “feel-good” hormones.” Interestingly, humans are the only creatures known to shed emotional tears, though it’s possible that that elephants and gorillas do too. Other mammals and also salt-water crocodiles produce reflex tears which are protective and lubricating.
Crying makes us feel better, even when a problem persists. In addition to physical detoxification, emotional tears heal the heart. You don’t want to hold tears back. Patients sometimes say, “Please excuse me for crying. I was trying hard not to. It makes me feel weak.” My heart goes out to them when I hear this. I know where that sentiment comes from: parents who were uncomfortable around tears, a society that tells us we’re weak for crying–in particular that “powerful men don’t cry.” I reject these notions. The new enlightened paradigm of what constitutes a powerful man and woman is someone who has the strength and self awareness to cry. These are the people who impress me, not those who put up some macho front of faux-bravado.
Try to let go of outmoded, untrue, conceptions about crying. It is good to cry. It is healthy to cry. This helps to emotionally clear sadness and stress. Crying is also essential to resolve grief, when waves of tears periodically come over us after we experience a loss. Tears help us process the loss so we can keep living with open hearts. Otherwise, we are a set up for depression if we suppress these potent feelings. When a friend apologized for curling up in the fetal position on my floor, weeping, depressed over a failing romance, I told her, “Your tears blessed my floor. There is nothing to apologize for.”
I’ve been this enthusiastic about crying for years. In fact, during my psychiatric residency at UCLA when supervisors and I watched videos of me with patients, they’d point out that I’d smile when a patient cried. “That’s inappropriate,” they’d say. I disagreed then; still do. I wasn’t smiling because my patients were depressed or grieving. I was smiling because they were courageously healing depression or other difficult emotions with tears. I was happy for their breakthrough. In my life, too, I love to cry. I cry whenever I can. Wish I could more. Thank God our bodies have this capacity. I hope you too can appreciate the experience. Let your tears flow to purify stress and negativity.

HEALING POWER OF "MOUNTAIN TEARS". 100 great mysteries of nature
HEALING POWER OF "MOUNTAIN TEARS"
Many have heard about the mummy - a miraculous drug. But what it is and what its effectiveness really is, only a few know. The halo of mystery surrounding the mummy was largely facilitated by the fact that for many years in the Soviet Union it was, as it were, outlawed: it was not only declared a harmful charlatan remedy, but also forbidden to be used for medicinal purposes. However, this did not prevent the party elite from using this drug, which was purchased for foreign currency in India, Nepal and Iran.
- The ban looked ridiculous, because in the East, the healing properties of mumijo were discovered in ancient times and have since been tested a thousand times in practice, - writes folk healer Ivan Usoltsev. - It is enough to name at least a few names of those who gave credit to this drug: the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle and the Central Asian scientist al-Biruni, the Arab physician Ibn Rushd, the medieval French pharmacist Guy de la Fontaine and the brilliant Italian thinker Leonardo da Vinci.
The famous doctor, scientist and philosopher Ibn Sina, known in the West under the name of Avicenna, used mumiyo especially widely in his practice. In the encyclopedia of theoretical and clinical medicine “Canons of Medical Science” written by him, summarizing the experience of Greek, Roman, Indian and Central Asian doctors, Avicenna called mumiyo an all-healing remedy, noting in his writings that those folk healers who use this remedy in the treatment of fractures are absolutely right. bones, dislocations, tonsillitis, bronchial asthma, suppuration from the ear and hearing loss, bites from poisonous snakes, stomach ulcers and liver disease. According to Avicenna, mumiyo also gives good results when it is necessary to give strength to an old heart, rejuvenate the skin, and get rid of excessive thickening of the blood.
Such an extensive list of ailments that were successfully treated with the help of mummy is explained by the fact that Eastern healers intuitively noticed its unique, as they say now, clinical effect: this remedy activated the defenses and accelerated the regeneration processes in the body. By the way, there is evidence that Alexander the Great, after wounds received in the Indian campaign, was treated with "mountain tears". And this is the legendary mummy of the East.
In the Middle Ages, he was credited with magical powers and was considered a medicine that heals all diseases. Not so long ago, Moscow State University specialists experimentally confirmed that mumiyo has a pronounced antibiotic property: staphylococci and Escherichia coli, as well as many other pathogenic bacteria, die in a solution of mountain balsam. Moreover, this antimicrobial effect turned out to be stronger than, for example, penicillin. Yes, it was not in vain that the Tibetan treatise “Jud-shih”, written more than two thousand years ago, instructed: “Take a mummy in the mountains, be healed!” And local healers, hundreds of years before Avicenna, treated tuberculosis, purulent wounds, inflammation of the intestinal tract with “mountain tears”.
Mouse tail remedy
What is the nature of the miraculous balm? Until recently, there were several theories about the origin of the mummy. Alas, in practice it turned out that all of them are nothing but conscientious scientific errors. Moscow and Kharkov geochemists subjected the mummy to analysis on infrared spectrometers. The first thing they established was the closeness of the structure and chemical composition of all varieties of the mysterious balsam: Central Asian, Siberian, Nepalese, Indian. The second was far more important. It turned out that this substance is of plant origin.
But the conclusions of geochemists have not yet answered the main question: where does the organic matter, which is the basis of mummy, come from?
Scientists from Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan revealed the secret of mountain balsam. They conducted an extensive survey of its exit sites, followed by laboratory analysis of the collected samples. As a result of many years of research, it has been indisputably established that the balm is the end product of a natural change ... in the excrement of certain species of field mice!
Great merit in the discovery of the origin of this natural balm belongs to Samarkand Nikolay Fedorovich Vorobyov. Being engaged in folk healing, he used the recipes of ancient oriental medicine, including the works of Avicenna. Moreover, despite the prohibitions, Vorobyov has been treating ailments with preparations made from mummy for decades, and has achieved an amazing therapeutic effect.
And then Vorobyov's scientific curiosity and passion for mountaineering played their role. In one of the Tibetan treatises, he came across a mention of a “mummy-bearing mouse”, which lives high in the mountains, where there are various ores and minerals. Her feces allegedly contain a healing balm.
Of course, it was hard to believe in the healing effect of mouse droppings. But Vorobyov nevertheless decided to check the statement of the ancient Tibetan experts. To do this, it was necessary to find the mysterious “mummies mouse” and observe it in order to study its ecology.
This took a lot of time, because the observations had to be made not in a comfortable vivarium, but on sky-high mountain peaks. In the end, the researcher came to the conclusion that the Tibetans meant the hay supply by the “mummy-bearing mouse”. This herbivorous rodent leads a secretive lifestyle. He is very cautious and afraid of any noise. Therefore, Vorobyov was forced to lie low and sit still for many hours, so as not to frighten away the animal. His legs were numb and his whole body was frozen to the bone. And it was possible to see the hay station only early in the morning, at dawn.
“Living among the rocks, this mouse has developed a peculiar way of moving – by jumps,” says Nikolai Fedorovich. “He’ll run a little and jump about fifteen centimeters like that. There are jumps just for the sake of training, and there are also jumps for jumping onto ledges, getting along them to the arches of a cave or a rocky canopy. There she hides her droppings in a secluded place. Therefore, speleologists find mumijo streaks on the walls of photos. As a rule, such resinous formations are very old in age. The best medicine is prepared precisely from them ...
However, the droppings deposited by the pharmacist mouse are not yet a medicine, but only the raw material for it, which is then processed by nature itself. The fact is that there is one peculiarity in the ecology of the hay delivery. The herbs in her intestines are not fully digested. Therefore, in the spring, when there is still no fresh grass, the droppings hidden in dry places can serve as quite nutritious food for it, if there are not enough food supplies prepared in the fall.
Usually, some of these "grocery warehouses" remain unclaimed in the spring. And then the process of turning mouse excrement into mummy begins. Initially, they are saturated with trace elements from the surrounding rocks. Then microbes and microfungi come into play, gradually making a semi-finished product from raw materials.
Alchemy of nature
Long-term study and use of specimens found by Vorobyov in the mountains led him to the conclusion that the medicinal properties of mummy depend on three important factors. The first is the conditions of the area where the droppings of the haystacks lay, the mineral composition of the surrounding rocks and the level of solar radiation. It is under the influence of this radiation that the semi-finished balm becomes, as he says, "alive", that is, effective. The second is the time allotted for the transformation of its constituent components. These metamorphoses are precisely the essence of the processes occurring in the ripening balsam, primarily microbiological ones. The third is the correct method for cleaning raw mummy from impurities. And here you need high competence, knowledge of ancient folk techniques. Overheating during cleaning neutralizes the biologically active substances taken by mummy mice from plants.
I know many cases, - says Nikolai Fedorovich, - when Siberian and Central Asian doctors, on the basis of analyzes, proved the absence of medicinal properties in the drug. But it was just those cases when the collected raw material was cleaned on a steam bath at a temperature of +60°C. And the whole complex mixture of organic substances decomposed and lost its "living life". But if the raw material is processed at a temperature not exceeding +39 ° C, the cleaning result will be optimal and a truly healing balm will turn out. However, there are other subtleties that the ancient healers of the East knew very well. Therefore, you need to follow their recipes exactly.
Vorobyov made his conclusions about the origin of mummy on the basis of multiple analyzes of the balsam of different ages and, consequently, different stages of its natural formation process. He shared these secrets with geochemists. As mentioned above, they conducted additional studies that showed the reliability of his hypothesis. In particular, geochemists have confirmed that shilajit contains antibiotics of plant origin, substances that prevent blood clotting, and a wide range of trace elements: calcium, sodium, silicon, potassium, copper, molybdenum, nickel, scandium, tin, bismuth, iron, and even some gold. There are also plant elements in it - the remains of mountain flora, characteristic of the belt from 1500 to 3000 meters above sea level. With the help of isotopic analysis, the age of the mumiyo deposits on the walls of the Altai caves was also determined - from hundreds to thousands of years!
As for the therapeutic effect of the mummy, which has a whole "bouquet" of microelements and biologically active substances contained in it, then Vorobyov and other domestic scientists significantly supplemented the list of diseases compiled by Avicenna. It turned out that the balm not only has a pronounced antimicrobial effect and reduces blood clotting, which is very important in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. In particular, it increases the activity of the immune system and improves vision. A strictly dosed intake of the mummy solution helps students solve complex mathematical problems, improves memory, and activates a person's creative abilities. Ointments based on it well treat purulent wounds and ulcers, relieve allergic inflammation of the skin.
Nevertheless, Vorobyov does not tire of emphasizing that this medicinal natural preparation is not a panacea. It works well, providing a lasting effect, only in combination with medicinal herbs and roots, some natural poisons and extracts from the lymphatic fluids of insects. And first of all, a correct diagnosis and a medical opinion are needed. No self-treatment! For if the balm is taken incorrectly, the result can be just the opposite. The course of mummytherapy must be carried out by a doctor who is well aware of the features of the drug.
After such a detailed story about the all-healing balm, it only remains to say that a genuine mummy is a black, shiny resinous substance, bitter in taste, with a specific aromatic smell. Under normal conditions, the mummy is a semi-liquid mass. If it is of good quality, then it quickly softens in the hands, if it is impure or of poor quality, it remains solid at body temperature.
Do not under any circumstances buy shilajit in the market! Unfortunately, there are a lot of fakes out there now. Even Nepalese preparations are of poor quality, because they did not receive a sufficient dose of solar radiation and underwent metamorphoses in more damp conditions than necessary.

"IF YOU WILL OBEY THE VOICE OF THE LORD YOUR GOD AND DO THAT IS PLEASANT IN HIS EYES AND OBSERVE HIS COMMANDMENTS AND OBSERVE ALL HIS REGULATIONS EGYPT, FOR I AM THE LORD YOUR HEALER…”
- Exodus 15:26.
From the Author
“AND JESUS WALKED IN ALL GALLILEE, TEACHING IN THEIR SYNAGOGES AND PREACHING THE GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM, AND HEALING EVERY DISEASE AND 03 PEOPLE…”
- MATTHEW 4:23.
All our diseases on earth appeared as a result of disobedience to God of the first people, Adam and Eve. Now, all people, their descendants, are sinners! Sin every day - by deeds, thoughts and deeds:
"EVERYONE IS LOOKING FOR HIS OWN, NOT WHAT JESUS CHRIST PLEASED."
Philip 2:21.
People are overcome by sins - this is pride, envy, greed, lies, deceit, disbelief in God, murder, outrage, hatred and all evil! God speaks to us in the Bible:
“Alas, a sinful people, a people burdened with wickedness, a tribe of villains… WHAT SHOULD YOU ELSE HAVE, CONTINUED WITH YOUR PERSPECTIVENESS? THE WHOLE HEAD IS IN ULCERS, AND THE WHOLE HEART IS WASTED. FROM THE SOLE OF THE FOOT TO THE CROP OF THE HEAD, THERE IS NO HEALTHY PLACE FOR HIM…”
Isaiah 1:5-6.
In both the Old Testament and the New Testament, God warns us that our sins are the cause of all sickness! It is also impossible to take communion in the church without SINCERE repentance, without reconciling with God! – (WHERE MANY OF YOU ARE WEAK AND SICK, AND NOT A FEW DIES. ) – 1 Corinth. 11:30.
Often, through illness, God corrects the path of the believer, corrects the spiritual condition and stirs up love. A believer, before turning to a doctor with illnesses, needs to analyze his actions and deeds, and ask God in prayer - why does he need such an illness? God is our Creator and master of our life! In all cases of life, we must ask Him - is it pleasing to Him? Satan works with us only with the permission of the Lord! We find confirmation of this in the book of Job 1:6.
“NOW SEE THAT IT IS ME, I AM AND THERE IS NO GOD EDGING ME, I KILL AND I REVIEW, I AMAZE AND I HEAL, AND NO ONE WILL DELIVER OUT OF MY HAND.”
- Secondary 32:39.
All power and authority is concentrated in the hands of a loving Heavenly Father! God is not against doctors - He is against our disobedience! If you prayed for healing and heard the answer from Him: "GO AND GET A DOCTOR!" - Then go with a pure heart to the doctor, and God will bless the hands of the doctor and your treatment! If in such a situation we do not ask God in prayer, but immediately go to the doctor, then we do not trust God with our lives and by this we offend God the Creator! Going to the doctor without God's blessing is like saying to the Lord, "I don't need You!" And by this offend Him!
"BUT IN HIS ILLNESS HE DID NOT SEE THE LORD, BUT DOCTORS, AND HE DID ASSA WITH HIS FATHERS. "
– 2 Para. 16:12
The Lord sends us trials in life and helps us overcome them! The Lord becomes real to believers. Living God! Now God has given all His power to Jesus Christ! He is our Healer and Savior! Our Great Teacher and Mentor - Jesus Christ, teaches us in the Word of God that health is a reward for obedience to God! The Great Healer knows the needs of every person, He did not refuse anyone who believed and thirsted for His healing power! He knew that people themselves bring on infirmities and illnesses, and when the healing grace of Christ touched the sick, they realized their sinfulness, repented, and often received spiritual and physical healing. Jesus is still the same today, His Words have healing power! Why don't we see similar results today. When evil spirits inhabit a person, Jesus feels it, when fever and high temperature, inflammation and pain, torment a person, then the Lord feels these torments. He still wants to heal the sick today, just like before, when he was on earth! True Christians are His mediators, and through them Jesus also manifests His healing power! Healing can be done only by the power of Christ - the Healer by faith, in a prayer of repentance, and at the request of healing! All people need the help of Christ, but not everyone believes Him and does not accept Him as the Savior and Healer, do not want to fulfill His Commandments, “Love your neighbor as yourself and love the Lord God with all your being. ”, and continue to do evil on earth… Jesus teaches us to forgive enemies and friends – this also leads to healing! It is written in the Bible that when Jesus healed the sick, he said: "SIN NO MORE, THAT WORSE HAPPEN TO YOU..." - John 5:14., With these words, Jesus teaches that sickness is the result of man's sins - violation of God's Laws . If people lived in accordance with the Laws of God the Creator, then there would be no such suffering and grief on earth!
“IF YOU WILL OBEY THE VOICE OF THE LORD YOUR GOD AND DO THAT THAT IS PLEASANT IN HIS EYES AND OBSERVE HIS COMMANDMENTS AND OBSERVE ALL ITS REGULATIONS, THEN I WILL NOT PUT ON YOU ANY OF THE DISEASES… FOR GOOD LORD 03 GOOD…

Every step we take, we feel God's life-giving power! In prayer, we establish a close relationship with God through Jesus Christ! For our sake, the Lord activates the almighty heavenly powers! The Lord wants people to be cleansed of their sins and stop resisting God! Let us give thanks to God the Creator for His Son Jesus Christ, who delivered us from the power of darkness and leads us to the Heavenly Kingdom!
