Healing Balm

This app was a great help to me as part of my recovery from severe insomnia
Secondary to a mercury poisoning. I would put this app on when I could not return to sleep and it would help me move into a deep rest ... as I healed it would return me to sleep... And eventually I was sleeping long 6-8 hour blocks agawe'rein. Learning to be fully present to myself and to move through overwhelming emotions like anxiety, grief or depression... Letting the wave pass... Letting go... Was essential to the healing of my nervous system and restoration of neuro-transmitters.. This app was a great tool to help me learn that skill as was meditation on the Truth of God's constant Loving Presence in Scripture.

Better than drugs

This was my introduction to meditation. I learned basic skills. I have suffered with depression and have been medicated most of my life. I am able to remain happy and centered without drugs now. (I realize some people still need that additional help and there is no shame in that) I am grateful for the skills I started to learn from this and other meditations from Mary. It has been a wonderful thing. I have broadened my library of meditations but I often return to this one. It is simple and effective at helping me get out of my thoughts and Simply Be me.

FALLING ASLEEP Finally

I am amazed and so happy with this guided Meditation for Relaxation. I listen to it while Im trying to go to sleep. Before I started listening to this I would lay awake for at least 45 minutes trying to go to sleep.... Many nights over the past decade. The first night I used this app I was asleep in less than 10 minutes. No sleep aid needed nor for the past 7 days. THANK YOU.
The voice volume and the music volume are separately adjustable. The guided voice is very pleasant with no high tones and no disruptions. I will recommend this app to all.

Meditation is the practice of deep reflection or concentration of one's mind for a certain period of time. It can be done in silence or through chanting, but whatever the meditation, it is usually practiced for a variety of reasons, ranging from religious or spiritual to being used as an awakening method.

In our modern, hectic world, meditation has gained popularity in recent years as a way to cope with stress. There is also scientific evidence that shows that this practice can be a useful tool in the fight against chronic diseases, including depression, heart disease and chronic pain.

There are many different forms of this ancient practice. If you're interested in doing it but don't know where to start, check out the list of the seven most popular meditations.

Mindfulness meditation

Mindfulness meditation is the process of having your thoughts fully present. Being aware means being aware of where you are and what you are doing, and not overreacting to what is happening around you.

Mindfulness meditation can be done anywhere. Some people prefer to sit in a quiet room, close their eyes, and focus on their breathing. But you can be aware at any time of the day, including when you are driving to work or doing household chores.

When you practice mindfulness meditation, you observe your thoughts and emotions, but leave them unanalysed and judged.

Transcendental Meditation

Transcendental Meditation is a simple technique in which a personally assigned mantra, such as a word, sound or small phrase, is repeated in a specific manner. She practices for 20 minutes twice a day, sitting in a comfortable position with her eyes closed.

The idea is that this technique allows you to settle into a deep state of relaxation and rest, with the goal of achieving inner peace without concentration or effort.

Guided Meditation

Guided meditation, sometimes also called guided imagination or visualization, is a method of meditation in which you form mental pictures or situations that help you relax.

This process usually takes place under the control of a guide or teacher, which is why it is called “guided”. It is usually suggested to use as many senses as possible, such as smell, sounds, and textures, to evoke calmness in a relaxing space.

Vipassana Meditation (Sayaji U Ba Khin Tradition)

Vipassana Meditation is an ancient Indian form of meditation that means seeing things as they really are. It was taught in India over 2500 years ago. The mindfulness meditation movement in the United States originates from this tradition.

The goal of Vipassana meditation is self-transformation through self-observation. This is achieved through disciplined attention to physical sensations in the body, to establish a deep connection between mind and body. Continuous connection leads to a balanced mind, full of love and compassion.

Vipassana in this tradition is usually taught over a 10-day course, and students must follow all the rules at all times, including abstaining from all intoxicants, lying, stealing, sexual activity, and killing any kind of living being.

Loving-Kindness Meditation (Metta Meditation)

Metta Meditation, also called Loving-Kindness Meditation, is the practice of wishing well for others and for oneself. People who practice this meditation read specific words and phrases designed to evoke warm feelings in themselves and those around them.

This meditation is usually practiced while sitting in a comfortable, relaxed position. After a few deep breaths, you slowly and steadily repeat the following words:

May I be happy. May I be well. May I be safe. May I be calm and relaxed.

When you have learned to direct this loving-kindness towards yourself, you can start imagining in your mind the family member or friend who helped you and chant the mantra again, this time replacing "I" with "you/you". As you continue to meditate, you will be able to involve other members of your family, friends, or neighbors in the practice.

The meditation ends with the universal mantra: "May everyone everywhere be happy."

Meditation on the chakras

Chakra is an ancient Sanskrit word that translates as "wheel". Chakras are the centers of energy and spiritual power in the body. It is believed that there are seven chakras. Each chakra is located in a specific part of the body and has a corresponding color.

Chakra Meditation consists of relaxation techniques aimed at achieving balance and well-being in the chakras. Some of these methods involve visualizing each chakra in the body and its corresponding color.
