Don't listen to the critics on this one the only thing similar to Sybil was the mental disorder.
Well i had heard little and nothing about this flick and only finding out about it after i saw that Halle Berry was nominated for a golden globe and reading the review and synopsis to this hidden away little flick and found out it was a true life case of a woman with split personality disorder.
Halle plays a stripper named Frankie whose little mood swings have all but frightened the crap out of her coworkers and boss. It turns out these mood swings are a lot more serious and turn out to be s.p.d. Frankie has two others sharing her tired little body, one a frightened but smart as a whip 9yr old girl who her psychiatrist Dr. Oz (Stellan Skarsgard) names genius and an racist white woman named Alice. As the movie rolls along we find out that their is a lot of history that inspired Frankie to take on these alter persona's and can be triggered by something as simple as a song on the radio. An overall good film that lot of reviewers and critics have been calling a Sybil rip off ( I don't call it that but the mental illness is the same thats for sure) Berry's nomination for the golden globe failed and wasn't won as it went to Natalie Portman's performance in Black Swan (another acting job that was well deserved of the win) however she once again pulled off a solid job along with a stellar performance in this film.

Oscar-winner Halle Berry and Berlin Film Festival winner Stellan Skarsgård in the suspenseful multiple personality disorder dancer Stellan Skarsgård in a suspenseful dancer with multiple personality disorder. The film is set in Los Angeles 1973 years old. Frankie is a showy black dancer who works at an expensive strip club and is invariably the interest of wealthy men on Wall Street. At some point, Frankie notices that her memory lapses are becoming more frequent, and one day she finds herself in the apartment of an unfamiliar man, where she just broke a vase on his head. The heroine is fired from her job, and she seeks psychiatric help. Dr. Oz, her doctor, says that another personality "lives" in her: the white racist Alice, who is trying with all her might to suppress the real personality of the heroine. Alice is the result of a traumatic incident from the past that Frankie has completely erased from memory.

The action takes place in Los Angeles in 1973.
Frankie is a beautiful black go-go dancer. The film opens with Frankie performing at a local strip club. The black beauty is one of the best dancers in the establishment where businessmen from Wall Street converge.
Frankie soon becomes interested in a famous bartender. She agrees to go to his house for casual, non-committal sex. As a result of the night's adventure, Franky passes out, and then comes to his senses and finds his partner with a crack in his head, and nearby - a broken vase. Frankie crushed his head. But why? She cannot understand this.
Soon news of her violent behavior is spreading throughout the strip club. Frankie is fired. She is looking for a job. But she has a series of similar manic episodes that prevent her from living.
The girl goes to a psychiatrist. During the session, Frankie learns that she has two alter egos: Genius, a seven-year-old child, and Alice, a white racist woman, whom Frankie is trying to overcome in herself. Frankie starts seeing a psychiatrist regularly.
Thanks to this, she remembers those events from the past that led to her split personality.
During another session, she recalls how in her youth she loved a white man who died in a car accident while they were both in the car. At the same time, she sees that she was pregnant. She has a white baby, and minutes after he is born, her own mother takes him away to kill (due to racial prejudice). These events provoked Frankie's split personality.
A girl watches her sessions with a psychiatrist on videotape. For the heroine, everything falls into place, the wounds begin to heal. Franky says he can control himself now.

Frankie performs at a Los Angeles club in 1973. She is one of the best strippers in the club and often attracts the attention of wealthy businessmen. One night, the club workers went out to the "Maiden Night". As the girls watch the men at the bar, Frankie gets the attention of a famous bartender. She agrees to go to his house for casual sex. Before the two can engage in any sexual activity, Frankie switches to an alter ego and smashes the man's head with a picture frame.
Rumors of Frankie's violent actions quickly spread throughout the strip club, and Frankie is fired from her job. Similar episodes occur when Frankie is in the laundry room and at the wedding.
Frankie begins psychotherapy with Dr. Oz. During the session, Frankie learns that she has two alters: Genius, a seven-year-old; and Alice, a white supremacist who Frankie tries to overcome. Through regular sessions with Dr. Oz, Frankie begins to remember the traumatic events that led to the dissociative rift in her personality. She realizes that when she was a teenager, she was in love with a white man who died in a car accident while they were on the road. In the same session, she also links the memories of the birth of her child. Moments after the birth, Franky's mother realizes the baby is half white and kills it, thus causing Franky's personality to split.
After watching the taped sessions and putting it all together, Frankie begins the healing process, taking control of her life and partially integrating the personalities that Dr.
Oz assures will always be there.
