Feeling of insignificance - 3 tips from psychologists, consultations

Hello. My name is Nastya. Please answer me if you can.

My problem is that I rush from a state of self-importance to a state of absolute uselessness.

I am constantly looking for recognition by those around me Majestic, without this I feel like a nobody (the size of the word “nobody” is 3 pt in Times New Roman).

When I am at home (most of the time), I have a sense of myself, a self-perception of a Majestic, Courageous person. As soon as I go out into the street - I feel like a nobody. nobody-nobody. Therefore, I often sit at home and create the illusion of my own importance. As soon as any of my friends achieve something, I sincerely envy him. I fantasize all the time. And in my fantasies, I am always either a superhero or a politician, a president who changes everyone's life for the better, very wise and creative, who has improved hundreds of lives.

I always feel like I've wasted a part of my life. That I should have learned MORE in the past, improved MORE, that I should have ALREADY been successful, know everything perfectly, work in a company in a high position and be respected by everyone. Now I'm 22, graduating from university and sitting in dreams + disgust for the future. I imagine a job - where I am in a high position, completely free in creativity and very protected by a company that appreciates such an important specialist. At the same time, I look into reality and I know that a banal “working” position awaits me, where I will be “acting”, which anyone can fulfill, if only he was. I have already worked in a bank for more than a year as an ordinary worker.

Recently I was in Odessa, at the Opera House, at the ballet, sitting in the gallery. Below me was a huge crowd of people. You know, it feels like you're an ant, what are your feelings, why are they special? If MILLIONS of the same people think, feel, suffer every day, just like you. In that crowd in the gallery, I felt that my thoughts, feelings and features are a crowd of the same thoughts and feelings of those people who are sitting below. We are all the same. Our features are not special. This is just a convention. Every day, millions of people die and millions are born, millions suffer, fall in love, do “something important”, everyone has a life story about which a whole book can be written. There is no individuality in this. Not such a thing - "individuality". This is self-deception.

I am very religious. This is of course a personal moment, but as a child I saw angels. When I look at the sky, I always try to see them in the clouds, as if I am so special that ONLY WITH ME you can see them, that ONLY FOR ME they come.

The opposite is that I often do not allow myself to turn to God in prayer. I feel that I am too small and not worthy to do this, that angels are assigned to me, the simplest, they are assigned to my supervision, and the Father will not solve my problems. That the Father hears me, but will not waste time personally answering me, but carelessly orders me to say something to the angels in order to “do His duty.” I represent his Spin. The Father will never turn to face me. You know, like in a kindergarten)) A child screams - they rubbed him, another screams - they rubbed another.

My feeling in this world is when you are NEEDED here. For a simple role. I imagine that I am moving someone's life so that these people grow and develop, and I am needed only to guide their growth. In principle, anyone could do this work. Well, I went.

You know, like in a watch)) There are gears that turn the hands, there is a spring that moves everything, and there is an intermediary gear. Yes, she also does something, maybe something important, but she will never play the main roles, she is simply needed, so she is worth it. Instead of it, they could put any wheel, and it would spin in the same way. But if you put other hands, the clock will already be different.

Even now, when I write to you, I write re-reading and correcting, trying to make the text smarter, non-standard, so that you can see my "extraordinary", distinguish me from the crowd of inquirers, say "Mmm .. She is so extraordinary, special, I must answer her." Like a pet. I always try to be a favorite.

As a child, I was not very loved, I was, as it were, but to take care of me was not the most important thing. In principle, I do not complain about it)). For a long time I had one or two best friends, friendship with whom was like a world apart from everyone else. I had my world and the world of other people with whom I was forced to contact. I had to “deserve” the love of my dad, teachers, friends in the kindergarten, and the habit “to please others, I must be the best for them” still remains. But I get over it with time. I got rid of social phobia, I talk calmly with people, everything seems to be in order. I let go of the past, I don't blame anything.

While I sit and “dream”, my friend has already achieved a lot. She has always been who she is, and in principle her achievements are a pattern. She perceives the world as it is and seeks her niche in it. Found - got it. It hurts me to look at real life, my world has split into real and imaginary. I feel her energy (friends), and the feeling that she is brave, I - no, I admire her.

One of my biggest fears is that I will become NOBODY. That I will remain unknown to anyone. That I will bring nothing into the lives of others. What I need, but really do not need.

I also wanted to add that I was already thinking about changing my mind. Thanks to psychologists, I know that I can change my life. But the thought “Every day millions of people die and millions are born, millions suffer, fall in love, do “something important”, everyone has a life story about which one could write a whole book. There is no individuality in this. Not such a thing - "individuality". It's self-deception." It's true. And she sounds convincing. Much more convincing than the thoughts that I pick up in return.

Sorry for the confusion. I will be sincerely grateful for your help.

Thank you very much for listening. Nastya.

Hello, Nastya! It's not very clear what you really want. If you already know "how to change your life", then what kind of help do you want? It's nice that you described your present and past in great detail, without being lazy, but it's not very clear what's next... Do you want to understand what's happening to you? it doesn't seem like you already know it and describe it in detail. Want to know what to do next? also - no, because by your words you know it. It seems that you like to feel sorry for yourself and complain about fate. If you like it so much that you are ready to live like this all your life, doing nothing - please, your right. Well, if you still want to really achieve something - go ahead. At least you have enough perseverance, perseverance and the ability to analyze. If it is difficult most - address behind "kick" to the expert. Good luck to you.

Anastasia! What you do, where you study, it’s not clear from your story. Maybe you should go to study at the Faculty of History or Philosophy, you will succeed. And you can also be useful by helping grandparents (social service, Red Cross service ...) and etc. If you don't like my suggestions - find something for yourself - and feel your importance, hear it from the lips of others. Sitting, lying on the couch or at the computer, you can only feel your uselessness!

Little noise causes hysterics (1 answer)

Hello, Nastya! Very cool and interesting you know how to describe your condition, thoughts and fantasies! Apparently you know how to notice a lot in the events around you. Only for some reason you do not place YOURSELF in these real events of your life, but somehow you keep the role of a passive observer. Of course, it’s safer to fantasize, in your fantasy you can create situations and their participants yourself, and most importantly, you control everything there YOURSELF! In real life, everything is different: you need to adapt to the conditions and situations that are created by other people and circumstances. It is very sad that you keep all your strength for real actions and spend it on creating your fantasies, which only YOU can see (if you were a director, you would make a film, you would show people - and you would receive a long-awaited recognition :) As long as you are in contact with YOURSELF and your fantasies - you pass by real possibilities. Fear is the most effective way to stop your actions and desires! Pay attention to what is happening around you, what opportunities the surrounding reality offers you, what people and events surround you, be in touch with it. Listen to your desires and find what will bring pleasure to your life!

Recognize your insignificance and your life will change for the better

June 26, 2017Life

We can change a lot in our lives if we change our perception of ourselves in this world. Recognizing your insignificance is not easy, but it is very useful.

Each of us perceives the world through the prism of our feelings, experiences and memories. Each of us feels special. Such a subjective perception of reality creates the illusion of our significance for this world. Why an illusion? Because we forget that there are still billions of people around. So it was before us. So it will be after. Our life is a grain of sand.

Do not take these words as something cynical and depressing. On the contrary, it is the understanding of the difference between our subjective perception and objective reality that is the key to a fulfilling and happy life.

This recognition of unimportance and insignificance makes us take a different look at our problems, pacify egoism, rethink our actions, and indeed our whole life.

Try to admit your insignificance. This will give you many benefits.

1. We will be able to comprehend and appreciate the sublime. sublime).

We find beauty every day by looking at things that give us aesthetic pleasure. The sublime is not just pleasing to the eye. It's something else. It overwhelms and shocks us. We feel it when we feel the power of nature, the power of art, when we are overwhelmed with love.

To experience the sublime, we must conquer our ego and our sense of superiority.

These traits make us simply seek pleasure without allowing us to experience the real joy of life.

By admitting your insignificance, you get rid of this problem.

2. We will be free from unreasonable pressure and unjustified expectations

We live in an organized world where everything has a definition. Not nature gave the tree its name, but man. He did it for convenience, in order to somehow structure everything around. Our perception of reality is limited by language.

The French writer, Nobel Prize winner Albert Camus said that we are trying to appeal to the mind of an unreasonable world and this often leads to internal contradictions.

All these structures, definitions and labels are fragile and insignificant. You should not rely only on your position, power and money. They create the illusion of importance and significance. Of course, you can be proud of what you do, but an adequate perception of your personality will not allow you to imagine yourself as the center of the Universe.

By recognizing your insignificance, you free yourself from the many shackles imposed by society.

3. We realize that our efforts are more important than our desires

Remember that the Universe does not owe you anything, no matter how special you may feel.
